What is the difference between pregnancy massage and regular massage?

The mother’s body needs to be supported during the massage.  This is to aid with the protection, comfort and safety of the mother and baby.  Certain deep tissue work is avoided, and certain areas of the body are avoided during this massage.

What are the benefits of pregnancy massage?

​

  • can reduce stress

  • decrease swelling in the arms, legs and feet

  • relieve aches and pains in muscles and joints

  • aid in the relief of back pain

  • provide comfort and emotional support

  • reduce anxiety and depression

  • stimulate endocrine system which helps to stabilise hormone levels

  • relieves nervous tension


Precautions

I do not recommend massage in the first trimester because a massage will increase circulation and your baby needs to establish itself in the womb first.  Some ladies with certain health conditions may not be able to have a massage during pregnancy please consult with your doctor.


After the first trimester I can tailor the massage to your needs, giving massage and Reiki where you need it in and safe and comfortable environment.  The massage can leave you and your baby feeling totally relaxed and balanced.  Although this is a 60 mins treatment please allow an additional 15 to 20 mins as I do not like to rush my ladies after their treatment.  You will need time to come back to the reality of the world, dress and drink a couple of glasses of water.
